Music is the best option to drown out sound or break a tedious silence. The best songs to work along with are rhythmically consistent and have little or no lyrics such as ambient, instrumental music. Another good thing about instrumental music is that it deters co-workers from singing out loud although humming might happen. Songs with lyrics, the brain will want to predict what happens next and it will take away from concentrating on your task.
